About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Civil Design Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex. Civil Design Engineers will be responsible for developing high-quality detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant facilities. Effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task and will routinely provide input to system engineers and other plant customers. Routinely perform walk downs in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel. Provide self-performed technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems through the application of established engineering practices, codes and standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to storm and storm drain designs and modifications, road design, soil evaluation, and oversight of outside engineering firms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 5 – 20+ years of relevant experience
  • Technical expertise and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field of Civil Engineering
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees
  • Must be willing to work in a production environment
  • Must be familiar with consensus design codes
  • United States Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • CAD drafting experience is preferred
  • Active Q (Security Clearance) preferred
