About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking experienced Civil Carpenter Helpers for work in the Baton Rouge, LA area. This non-exempt role reports to the Foreman and is responsible for assisting skilled workers in performing their assigned duties and performing a variety of other tasks. Assigned duties are according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. In this role, the Civil Carpenter Helper will be expected to help with site preparation, material handling (by holding materials and mixing concrete), and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

High school or equivalent.
Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift.

Prior construction experience.

Responsibilities

Assist skilled workers in performing their assigned duties.
Help with site preparation.
Assist with material handling, including holding materials and mixing concrete.
Dig, spread, and level dirt and gravel.
Touch up paint.
Pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, or other materials.
Handle building materials.
Fix flats and change out tires on trailers and mobile equipment.
Lift and carry materials such as pipe and fittings throughout the facility.
Assist with tools and equipment such as welding machine setup, rigging for the crane, tightening headstock, etc.
Operate the crane if certified.
Transfer from task to task as the project progresses to completion.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
