About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking experienced Civil Carpenter Helpers for work in the Baton Rouge, LA area. This position is responsible for assisting skilled workers in performing their assigned duties and performing a variety of other duties. The Civil Carpenter Helper will be expected to help with site preparation, material handling, by holding materials and mixing concrete, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
• Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift

Responsibilities

• Assisting skilled workers in performing their assigned duties
• Helping with site preparation
• Material handling, by holding materials and mixing concrete
• Digs, spreads and levels dirt and gravel
• Touch up paint
• Pours and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel or other materials
• Handles building materials
• Fixes flats and changes out tires on trailers and mobile equipment
• Lifts and carries materials such as pipe and fittings throughout the facility
• Helps with tools and equipment such as welding machine set up, rigging for the crane, tightening headstock etc.
• Operates the crane (if certified)
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction
