About The Position

The Civic Life Program Associate is a hands-on teacher who supports planning, preparation, and delivery of adult library programs and outreach across the Salt Lake City Public Library system. Associates deliver programs, coordinate activities, connect with participants, and adapt activities in the moment for live audiences at library locations and community sites. They maintain program materials and kits, provide backup for Specialists, and support volunteers and newer staff. This is an entry-level role in the Programming career path and mirrors the Associate Librarian role in Public Services. The position supports the Library’s 2026–2034 Strategic Plan, particularly the priorities of Strengthening Civic Life and Creating Belonging Through Access. It helps make library locations trusted civic commons, gathers community feedback, and manages the logistics and materials needed for programming in library, outdoor, and other public spaces. Programming staff work at nine library locations and travel to community gathering places across the city. The role may evolve as organizational needs and strategic priorities change.
