About The Position

The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Civic Education Coordinator in the Office of Public Information. The Civic Education Coordinator promotes knowledge of the role of the judiciary in government through outreach to communities and schools as well as hosting events and activities such as tours, seminars, and speeches related to the education, historical, architectural, and artistic significance of the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, organizes, and tracks data for group visits to the Thomas J. Moyer Judicial Center, including maintaining the tour calendar, completing reservation forms, creating online registration forms, preparing tour program policies in consultation with internal offices, assisting with transportation grant registration instruments, and confirming tour logistics.
  • Conducts in-person and online educational tours of the Moyer Judicial Center and Visitor Education Center, assisting with ongoing programming needs.
  • Develops and writes education and promotional materials for the Visitor Education Center, Civic Education pages on the Supreme Court Website, and social media in collaboration with editorial, design, and production teams.
  • Assists in creating educational materials aligned with Ohio Learning Standards (grades 4-12) to educate the public on the judicial branch, Ohio’s courts, and the Supreme Court of Ohio's roles.
  • Communicates regularly with volunteer tour guides regarding scheduling and availability and prepares an annual recognition luncheon with justices.
  • Provides input on displays and exhibits in the Visitor Education Center, including managing the schedule for exhibit retirement and replacement.
  • Distributes, monitors, and compiles results for online teacher surveys and special event guest satisfaction surveys, providing suggestions for program improvements.
  • Works with the Program Manager to develop strategies for recruiting, screening, training, recognizing, and evaluating new volunteer tour guides.
  • Develops and writes recruiting and training materials for volunteers in both print and digital formats.
  • Coordinates with the judicial offices of the Supreme Court of Ohio on public requests and assists Justices with visitor inquiries.
  • Assists the Program Manager in developing and coordinating Off-Site Court sessions and other outreach programs.
  • Serves as the primary supervisor and liaison for college externs and high school interns assigned to Civic Education, preparing semester calendars of goals and objectives.
