About The Position

The Education Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of Head Start Child Development Program policies and procedures to maintain best practices and effective service delivery to children and families, based on the theories and principles of child growth and development, early childhood education and family support. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring full implementation of all aspects of the BCFS Education Services early learning system, policies/procedures and tools, with the goal of supporting all children to achieve School Readiness Goals. The Education Coordinator will provide ongoing coaching to Education Coaches and teaching staff to support them in successfully fulfilling all aspects of their role, including but not limited to effective practices in the following: 1. Learning Environments 2. Curriculum 3. Child Assessment/ TSGold 4. Meeting All Children's Needs Working with Families 5. Working with Families 6. Professional Growth and Collaboration 7. Work with teachers to implement program curriculum with fidelity. 8. Work with teachers to implement child assessment system reliably, including understanding child outcomes data and using them to plan and individualize. 9. CLASS™ Teacher-Child Interactions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in early childhood education or a Bachelor’s or advanced degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience.
  • Minimum four years of related experience as a teacher and/or coaching teachers.
  • Criminal background clearance and a physical examination and TB test are required as condition of initial employment and continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in any field related to children.
  • Previous experience in an early childhood setting preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

  • Experience with collaborations and community partnerships preferred.
  • Knowledge of Licensing Regulations for early childhood settings.
  • CLASS certification, or the ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Education Coordinator for multiple programs, overseeing implementation of all aspects of education services and providing coaching and mentoring for the Education Coaching staff.
  • Support effective implementation of education content area, implementing all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Assist in on-going monitoring, tracking, follow-up, and analysis of child development services, and child outcomes.
  • Ensure that teaching team integrate goals from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities (in consultation with Mental Health/Disabilities Coordinator).
  • Ensure the completion of all required child screenings and assessments, including 45 and 90-day requirements for new children and quarterly progress assessments for all children.
  • Participate in team meetings, home visits, and community events as needed.
  • Support education team in understanding child outcomes data and using it to improve practice.
  • Provide education team with coaching and support for quality improvement and professional growth through regular observation and formal and informal feedback.
  • Provide CLASS reliable observations and training to support teachers and education team.
  • Provide training and oversight of E-DECA and Brigance assessment tools.
  • Coordinate with Family Services team to ensure seamless delivery of service to children and their families.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate classroom operations to meet changing or emergent program requirements within available resources.
  • Understand the personnel policies and procedures.
  • Coach, mentor and work effectively with the education team. Model best practices within the service area.
  • Devise work methods and procedures that support improvements in existing work practices; supporting the teaching team in developing and setting goals, priorities and timelines.
  • Coordinate and provide training, and guidance to staff, parents, and community on a variety of pertinent topics in the area of child education and development.
  • Participate and coordinate transition of children into and out of Head Start programs.
  • Develop a working knowledge of local community resources related to education and transition.
  • Actively participate in Head Start community, including staff meetings, mandated trainings, committee meetings, and other program-wide functions as needed, including some evening activities.
  • Collaborate with state and community partners as needed to enhance Head Start child development services, and to ensure effective transition planning for children and their families.
  • Ensure complete and accurate implementation of all BCFS Education Services required systems for recordkeeping and reporting, including: Lesson Plans, Assessments, Screenings, Coaching Partnerships Agreements, Teacher/Aide Success Rubric, Education portfolios or other documentation of early childhood education services, Child observations, assessment & planning information.
  • Participate in weekly MBI (Managing By Information) review and ensure all concerns are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in quarterly MBO (Managing By Outcomes) report and ensure all concerns are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual child outcomes data review and oversee teacher planning to help all children make developmental gains.
  • Participate in annual program self-assessment.
  • Serve on leadership team of the BCFS Education Services affiliate program, attending regular meetings and occasional retreats.
  • Participate in annual and quarterly planning to set, plan for, and monitor program goals.
  • Contribute to annual review and revision of program's integrated service plan.
  • Lead for the good of the entire organization, understand the big picture and use it as framework to make decisions.
  • Make decisions that support program quality and maintain program accountability.
  • Establish focus for education service area and act to align area's goals with the strategic direction and needs of the center; ensure that employees in the area understand how their work relates to the center as a whole and the relevant regulations and performance standards.
  • Improve quality and effectiveness of education service area and overall organization by initiating, sponsoring and implementing organizational change and by helping others to successfully manage organizational change.
  • Promote consistent exchange of information and a cooperative environment within the leadership of the center.
  • Attend parent committees, Policy Council and Board of Director meetings as needed or requested.
