About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced 5-Ton City Pick-up & Delivery Driver to join our team. This role involves operating a truck and trailer combination as needed to complete pickup and delivery work in and around Grand Prairie. The driver will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transport of goods, adhering to all relevant regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Class 5 or Class 1 driver's license
  • 1 to 2 years commercial driving experience
  • Computer Literate
  • Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Use of timelines and time management techniques
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Strong work ethic
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
  • Ability to chain up

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent considered an asset
  • City P&D experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate a truck and trailer combination to complete pickup and delivery work in and around Grand Prairie.
  • Perform trip inspections on equipment and load, complying with regulations and policies.
  • Check vehicles before driving to ensure mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order.
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions.
  • Secure all loads/cargo in accordance with applicable acts and legislation.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals and ensuring proper equipment positioning.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles via Samsara.
  • Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Operate equipment such as handheld devices, CB radios, and telephones to exchange information.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service/repair status using Samsara.
  • Record and maintain required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers verbally and in writing.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks using a forklift, power jack, or manual lifting.
  • Perform periodic inspections to ensure load is properly fastened and secure.
  • Deliver product and paperwork to customers courteously and timely in Grand Prairie and surrounding areas.
  • Clean up any debris caused by loading/unloading.
  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer, mechanical, or delivery problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
