City Launcher (Philadelphia)

Brodie Rec League•Philadelphia, PA
•$70,000 - $80,000•Onsite

About The Position

As a City Launcher, you will be responsible for opening a new Brodie League market in your local neighborhood. This involves recruiting founding captains, securing and validating venues, and managing the launch season. You will become the face of Brodie in your city, building genuine relationships with players and community members. This role prioritizes community building, followed by sales and growth marketing. The ideal candidate already has deep connections within the local basketball community and understands the nuances of the neighborhood. You will be expected to validate the market, prove the model, and grow the territory over time, contributing to the development of a repeatable launch playbook for future cities. You will collaborate with leadership across various departments.

Requirements

  • Reside in or adjacent to the target launch neighborhood.
  • Possess an existing network within the local basketball community (coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, tournament organizers, group-chat admins).
  • Currently participate in the local basketball scene (playing in rec leagues, attending gyms weekly).
  • Have established credibility and influence within the local community, where recommendations lead to action.
  • Confidence to name initial captains and the credibility to engage them.
  • Ability to build demand from scratch using events, social media, partnerships, and word-of-mouth with minimal budget.
  • Proficiency in closing deals, including negotiating with facility owners and securing deposits from captains.
  • Comfortable owning performance metrics, using a CRM, and adopting new tools.
  • Strong tech acumen or curiosity.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends (game nights typically 7pm-midnight).
  • Willingness to travel as the territory expands.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running your own run, league, tournament, training group, or community program.
  • Experience managing social media for a local brand, venue, team, or community.
  • Background in sports, events, hospitality, fitness, lifestyle, or entertainment industries.
  • Experience selling partnerships, sponsorships, memberships, or experiential products and services.
  • 3+ years in sales, partnerships, community management, or growth roles.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit a minimum of 24 founding captains per league, leveraging existing network.
  • Utilize existing relationships and familiarity with local gyms/courts to introduce Brodie League.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key community influencers such as coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, barbers, group-chat admins, and local business owners.
  • Drive the referral program to make captains and players the primary recruiting channel.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the neighborhood as part of your normal life, not just for outreach.
  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and secure suitable gyms in the neighborhood.
  • Execute a sales sequence: soft close the venue, prove demand, then sign the contract.
  • Track performance metrics (teams signed, fill rate, revenue) in CRM to ensure market predictability.
  • Escalate issues early when falling behind on targets.
  • Develop the local demand from scratch, building awareness and a waitlist through events and marketing.
  • Manage the location's social media page to build anticipation and engagement before launch.
  • Host open runs and live events to convert interest into signed teams.
  • Leverage local distribution channels (trainers, shops, barbershops, run pages, photographers) for partnerships.
  • Attend game nights to build relationships with participants and ensure a positive community experience.
  • Monitor league health (retention, team count, waitlist, feedback) and collaborate with Operations on game-night execution.
  • Retain ownership of growth, revenue, and community within your assigned territory.
  • Contribute to building the repeatable launch playbook for future cities.
  • Earn the right to expand territory into adjacent cities based on performance.
