City Launcher (Connecticut - Stamford)

Brodie Rec League•Stamford, CT
•$70,000 - $80,000•Onsite

About The Position

As a City Launcher, you will be responsible for opening a new Brodie League market in a neighborhood you are already familiar with. This involves recruiting founding captains, sourcing and validating venues, filling the gym, and running the launch season. You will become the face of Brodie in your city, building genuine relationships with players and community members. This role prioritizes community building, followed by sales and growth marketing. The ideal candidate is already embedded in the local basketball community, with existing connections and knowledge of local gyms and influential figures. You will be expected to validate the market, prove the model, and grow it season over season, potentially expanding your territory. You will also collaborate with leadership across various departments to build a repeatable launch playbook for future cities.

Requirements

  • Reside in or directly adjacent to the target launch neighborhood.
  • Possess an existing network within the local basketball community (coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, tournament organizers, group-chat admins).
  • Currently participate in the basketball scene (playing in a rec league now or last season, visiting a gym weekly).
  • Have a strong reputation and influence within the local scene, where recommendations lead to action.
  • Confidence to name the first ten captains and credibility to engage them.
  • Comfort building demand from zero through events, social media, partnerships, and word-of-mouth with minimal budget.
  • Ability to close deals, including negotiating with facility owners and securing deposits from captains.
  • Proficiency in owning a number, working within a CRM, and quickly adopting new tools.
  • Strong tech acumen or curiosity.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends (game nights typically 7pm-midnight).
  • Willingness to travel across an expanding territory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running a run, league, tournament, training group, or community program.
  • Experience managing social media for a local brand, venue, team, or community.
  • Background in sports, events, hospitality, fitness, lifestyle, or entertainment industries.
  • Experience selling partnerships, sponsorships, memberships, or experiential products and services.
  • 3+ years in sales, partnerships, community management, or growth roles.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit a minimum of 24 founding captains per league, starting with existing network.
  • Enter familiar gyms/courts (open runs, rec leagues, training sessions, tournaments) and introduce Brodie League.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key community influencers such as coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, barbers, group-chat admins, and local business owners.
  • Drive the referral program to leverage captains and players for recruitment.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the neighborhood as part of your normal life, not just for outreach.
  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and secure suitable gyms in the neighborhood.
  • Execute the sales sequence: soft close the venue, prove demand, then sign the contract.
  • Track performance metrics (teams signed, fill rate, revenue) in CRM to ensure market predictability.
  • Monitor weekly progress and escalate issues proactively when falling behind.
  • Build local demand from scratch, aiming to fill the gym within eight weeks.
  • Manage the location's social media page to build following, anticipation, and a waitlist before launch.
  • Host open runs and live events to convert interest into signed, paid teams.
  • Leverage local distribution channels (trainers, shops, barbershops, run pages, photographers) for promotion.
  • Attend game nights to build genuine relationships with captains, players, families, and spectators.
  • Monitor league health during the season (retention, team count, waitlist, feedback).
  • Partner with Operations on game-night execution while retaining ownership of growth, revenue, and community.
  • Contribute to building the repeatable launch playbook for future Brodie cities.
  • Earn the right to expand into adjacent cities as the territory grows.
