This role involves conducting hearings and making determinations on applications for the correction of real property tax assessments, including valuation determinations related to the City's new non-primary residence surcharge. The position requires evaluating the credibility and weight of information presented in support of applications. Responsibilities include research, analysis, and valuation of all property types, including complex and high-value properties, for administrative assessment review. Determinations may utilize any of the three recognized approaches to real property appraisal. The role may also involve supervising, coordinating, and assigning work to subordinate employees, and conducting physical property inspections when necessary. Additionally, the position requires attending outreach sessions to educate property owners and real estate representatives about the NYC Real Property Assessment System and conducting virtual and in-person hearings with legal representatives and property owners at the Department of Finance. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
