About The Position

This is a contract position for a Cisco Network Engineer focused on administering and maintaining Cisco network infrastructure, with a primary focus on Cisco Catalyst switches and wireless access points. The role involves utilizing Cisco Catalyst Center for automated device provisioning, policy management, and network assurance. The engineer will configure and manage wireless LAN controllers and access points, and perform hands-on deployment of switches, access points, and other network equipment. A significant part of the role includes troubleshooting complex network issues related to wired and wireless connectivity, performance, and security, diagnosing and resolving problems with VLANs, spanning tree protocol, EtherChannel, and other switching technologies, and providing expert-level support for wireless issues. The position also requires implementing and enforcing security policies, configuring and managing access control lists (ACLs), and monitoring the network for security threats. Creating and maintaining detailed network documentation, including diagrams and configurations, and monitoring network health and performance are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst switches.
  • Proven experience in wireless administration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Cisco Catalyst Center for network management.
  • Strong understanding of wireless networking standards, security protocols (e.g., WPA2/3), and radio frequency (RF) fundamentals.
  • Solid knowledge of network security principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Cisco CCNA or Cisco CCNP Enterprise certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce security policies on both wired and wireless networks.
  • Configure and manage access control lists (ACLs).
  • Monitor network for security threats and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams and configurations.
  • Monitor network health and performance to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
