About The Position

Libraries and Learning Resources (LLR) seeks a Circulation Supervisor to manage the Circulation/Reserve Desk, support Library operations, and ensure timely and effective service for patrons. This includes keeping the Circulation desk staffed during service hours, responding to requests or problems, working with student assistants to maintain the organization of print collections and the physical appearance of the library, assisting in collection development and reserves processing, and other projects as assigned. The Circulation Supervisor participates in Library committees and planning activities. Schedule is Sunday – Thursday, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm, with some changes during school breaks and summer.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to be reliable
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during scheduled work hours

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Circulation Desk
  • Hire, schedule and submit payroll for student assistants
  • Coordinate training student assistants
  • Assign tasks to student assistants and supervise their work
  • Supervise daily shelving of serials and books
  • Assist in cataloging print and digital materials
  • Participate in organizing, ordering and collecting books for Reserves, including physically placing books on reserve and sending deliveries to other libraries
  • Serve as backup for interlibrary loan requests
  • Process print serials
  • Interpret library policies for patrons
  • Support Virtual Reference service
  • Coordinate maintenance of physical appearance of library facility
  • Collaborate with other Library members in Library outreach activities
