About The Position

The Albuquerque Publishing Company and the Albuquerque Journal are looking for a Circulation Director to lead the strategy and day-to-day operations of our Circulation Department. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for growing and retaining subscribers, strengthening customer experience, managing distribution operations, and driving the financial performance of circulation across a diverse portfolio of publications. You’ll oversee circulation operations for the Albuquerque Journal, two national publications, three community publications, and a magazine, while leading a team responsible for getting our products into the hands of readers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing budgets, revenue, expenses, and performance metrics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into action.
  • Experience developing strategies around revenue growth, customer retention, or subscription marketing.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfort working with reporting, financial, customer management, and operational systems.
  • A track record of identifying opportunities, improving processes, and delivering results.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Circulation Department and oversee daily operations across customer service, office operations, distribution, subscription marketing, revenue, expenses, and retention.
  • Lead and develop the Circulation and Distribution Managers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and strong performance.
  • Develop strategies to grow subscriptions, improve retention, increase revenue, and elevate the customer experience in partnership with the Chief Revenue Officer.
  • Monitor circulation, revenue, expenses, delivery performance, and other key performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Use data and reporting to make informed business decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial management for the department.
  • Evaluate department performance against goals and budgets and make adjustments to keep the team on track.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, technology, marketing strategies, and changing consumer behaviors.
  • Partner with leadership, employees, vendors, and other departments to solve problems and move company initiatives forward.
  • Lead and participate in projects that improve circulation performance, operational efficiency, and profitability.
