About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to perioperative patients having inpatient or outpatient surgical procedures under various methods of anesthesia. Additional duties of the Circulating RN include but are not limited to: Responsible for admission and discharge of same day and inpatient surgical patients. Functions as circulator for inpatient and outpatient procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing process when providing direct patient care in order to meet the needs of the surgical patient. Reinforces or begins pre-op teaching and provides appropriate written documentation and oral reports. Generates and/or updates written plan of nursing care if indicated. Accurately monitors and records all pertinent aspects of patient care throughout the peri-operative period. Anticipates potential life-threatening complications during the peri-operative period and responds with appropriate nursing interventions to alleviate circumstances. Consults with other members of the surgical team as the patient's condition warrants. Displays the ability to document pertinent patient data, nursing interventions, and patient responses; documentation is accurate, timely, and concise.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) currently licensed to practice in the state of Minnesota.
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS.
  • Prior Circulating RN experience required.
