This role ensures safe patient care within the peri-operative unit, focusing on patient identification, timeouts, resources, and supplies for a secure environment. The Circulating RN acts as a resource to teammates, support services, and physicians, working closely with the scrub to maintain the sterile field and prevent compromise. They also promote the growth of others through precepting and mentoring, serving as a positive clinical role model and providing feedback. Responsibilities include keeping the surgical area clean and organized, assisting with room turnover, and ensuring the room is sterile and safe for the patient. The role involves managing environment and supply inventory, preparing patients for procedures, educating them beforehand, and participating in patient handoffs. Additionally, the Circulating RN contributes to OR metrics, process improvement, and developing solutions to meet departmental goals. They assess patient conditions before surgery, collaborate with physicians on care plans, and perform other assigned duties.
