About The Position

The Senior Program Instructor plans and delivers YMCA Chronic Disease Prevention programs under the guidance of the Wellness Director, supporting participants in achieving their physical health and well-being goals. Provide effective and meaningful instruction to class participants while creating a motivating, friendly, and non-competitive environment. Develop and maintain relationships that foster small community connections. Be available to participants before and after class to answer questions and follow up as needed. Conduct yourself in accordance with the YMCA Mission. Enter program data accurately, securely, and immediately after class. Follow YMCA privacy practice in compliance with federal HIPAA regulations. Perform other duties/ assignments as needed at the YMCA.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 18 years of age.
  • A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
  • 2-4 years of experience leading/ facilitating classes and working with special populations.
  • Experience or ability to work with patients’ physician instructions when needed.
  • Knowledge and experience with health behavior and challenges associated with making lifestyle changes.
  • Maintain current certifications in HIPAA, CPR AED, First Aid.
  • Ability to verbally provide clear, concise directions and visually inspect classroom for safety.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of program participants.
  • Completion of all position specific and mandatory YMCA training within specific training deadlines.
