About The Position

The Christmas Kettle Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, coordinating, and monitoring employee and volunteer bell ringers to ensure adequate staffing for kettle locations. This role involves preparing records and reports related to the kettle program, interviewing and selecting staff and volunteers, and maintaining communication with them throughout their service. The coordinator also plans and prepares special events, interacts with community leaders, and drives Salvation Army vehicles to manage kettle logistics. A key aspect of the role involves assisting with counting, recording, and depositing kettle funds. The position requires an understanding and adherence to The Salvation Army's mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol, conducting all duties with professionalism and in accordance with Christian principles.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience working with kettle fund raising programs preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, recruits, screens and selection of bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively.
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns work of staff and volunteers; instructs in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Maintains contact with staff and volunteers throughout their service; answers questions, concerns or problems; recognizes workers through correspondence by mail, in person or by phone.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.
  • Plans, coordinates, and prepares special events; prepares plaques and certificates of recognition; prepares and maintains special event records for future reference.
  • Meets with community leaders and organizations and discusses Salvation Army needs.
  • Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.
  • Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle funds.
