About The Position

This position is responsible for providing music instruction through the choir, offering appropriate choir performance experiences for students, and providing reasonable music support for school assemblies. The teacher will establish and enforce rules for student behavior and classroom procedures, observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Responsibilities also include preparing materials and classrooms, adapting teaching methods to meet varying student needs, establishing clear lesson objectives, preparing and grading tests and assignments, meeting with parents, maintaining student records, collaborating with other professionals, using technology to supplement presentations, and participating in school program development and revision. The role also requires attending professional meetings and staff meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide music instruction through the choir.
  • Provide appropriate choir performance experience for students enrolled in the choir.
  • Provide reasonable music support for school assemblies.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom he or she is responsible.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
  • Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
