About The Position

The Chipper & Grinder grinds castings according to instructions, changes and dresses grinding wheels, selects appropriate tools, identifies equipment malfunctions, and identifies scrap or defective castings for reporting to a supervisor or management. The role also involves operating hoists and other lifting devices, maintaining tools and equipment, and occasionally assisting new or transferred employees. The position requires the ability to work mandatory overtime as needed and to perform other duties as assigned. The work takes place in an industrial and manufacturing environment. Employees must be able to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds periodically, stand for up to 10 hours per day, and wear a respirator or air-supplied hood and other applicable PPE. The role requires use of grinding and chipping equipment, lifting equipment, and hand tools.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds periodically.
Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day.
Ability to wear a respirator or air-supplied hood and other applicable PPE.
Ability to move within the office and manufacturing complex and write by hand and/or type.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone, radio, and in person.
Participation in medical examinations required by law or federal regulations.
Visual acuity for close-detail work and computer use.
