Chip Simulation Lead

About The Position

Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence, co-designing chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver throughput and latency across prefill and decode workloads. Its first products focus on inference. The Lead Chip Simulation Engineer will drive the technical direction and development of custom AI accelerator simulation infrastructure. The simulation team builds hardware models that enable software development, debugging, and hardware-software co-design before silicon is available. This highly technical leadership role guides engineers developing a bit-accurate, cycle-aware chip simulator; reviews designs and code; and ensures simulation infrastructure is accurate, performant, scalable, and maintainable. The role works closely with hardware architects, firmware, kernel, and software teams to identify technical challenges, set priorities, and enable early development of the full software stack. The lead will mentor engineers and remain hands-on with critical implementations, debugging, and architectural prototyping. Etched is a fully in-person team based in San Jose (Santana Row). Technical staff are expected to contribute to both engineering and research and work across disciplines as needed.
