Chinese (Mandarin) Language Teacher (Grades 9–12)
About The Position
United States RVP Consultants continues to provide opportunities for teachers from around the world to teach in the United States for up to 5 years under a cultural exchange program. We are currently building our pipeline for the upcoming school year. We are actively seeking a qualified Chinese (Mandarin) Language Teacher to join a well-established independent IB World School in the United States. RVP will manage the full visa process to support selected candidates in obtaining authorization to teach in the United States. If you meet the qualifications below, we encourage you to apply. The selected candidate will teach Chinese (Mandarin) across multiple levels, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and IB Diploma Program (DP). While IB experience is preferred, strong language teachers without IB experience are encouraged to apply, as training will be provided. Candidates with Japanese language teaching skills are highly desirable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chinese, World Languages, Education, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of full-time teaching experience at the secondary level
- Currently teaching Chinese (Mandarin) in a primary or secondary school
- Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Meet qualifications to teach in your home country
- Ability to work in a collaborative, student-centered environment
- Willingness to participate in boarding school life and extracurricular activities
- Ability to pass an international background check
- Commitment to participate in a cultural exchange program and return to your home country upon completion
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching IB (MYP and/or DP)
- Experience in international or boarding school environments
- Ability to teach Japanese language (introductory to intermediate levels is a strong plus)
- Coaching experience or willingness to coach
Responsibilities
- Teach Chinese (Mandarin) courses across Grades 9–12
- Deliver instruction aligned with IB frameworks (MYP and/or DP)
- Design engaging, student-centered lessons that promote: Language proficiency, Intercultural understanding, Global awareness
- Assess student progress through formative and summative methods
- Prepare students for IB internal and external assessments
- Maintain accurate student records and provide timely feedback
- Serve as a student advisor and support student development
- Participate in residential life programming (approximately one weekend per month)
- Contribute to the school community through extracurricular involvement, including: Coaching one season of athletics or Supporting co-curricular programs
