About The Position

Quincy Innovation Academy provides multiple learning pathways designed to meet the diverse needs of Quincy School District students. The Online Learning Teacher supports high school students enrolled in both synchronous and asynchronous online courses utilizing the Edgenuity course platform across a variety of subject areas. The teacher builds strong relationships with students through regular weekly meetings to monitor progress, provide feedback, set goals, and support academic success. The position also includes providing in person intervention and instructional support when students need additional assistance. Responsibilities include ongoing communication with parents and guardians, maintaining accurate student records, and completing all documentation required to ensure compliance with Washington State Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) program requirements. In addition, the Online Learning Teacher provides direct instruction for targeted support courses, which may include Civics, Current World Problems, or other courses based on student and program needs. The ideal candidate is committed to personalized learning, student engagement, and helping students make consistent progress toward graduation and postsecondary goals.

Requirements

  • Currently have or will have by the start date a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a related endorsement.
  • Knowledge of multiple content subject areas and ability to utilize effective classroom management and instructional techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English with strong digital and oral communication skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective, positive communication and working relationships with students, parents or guardians, staff and administrators.
  • Ability to design and implement both in person and online lessons in a multi grade, multi subject program with a diverse range of student learning needs.
  • Skill using digital education technology software tools

Nice To Haves

  • Secondary endorsement in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science or Math preferred.
  • Other endorsements may be considered.
  • Experience teaching in a multi age classroom preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaches students the content, skills, and attitudes to be successful in the mastery of WA state learning standards
  • Fosters an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students both in person and in an online setting
  • Communicates students’ academic and social emotional learning progress in meetings with students, parents, and other staff
  • Creates learning plans with online learning students and their families that are compliant with OSPI Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) guidelines for online learning
  • Plans and prepares well organized series of learning opportunities and activities; established objectives to ensure mastery of district outcomes.
  • Manages and adapts online courseware to meet student needs and address priority learning standards.
  • Assesses and evaluates student achievement; gives frequent, actionable feedback on student learning, adapts and modifies techniques and material for effectiveness as necessary for student progress and success; seeks and recommends special assistance as appropriate.
  • Assists students in developing social emotional skills and responsible behaviors; models appropriate behavior; maintains and provides fair and consistent classroom management with both in person and virtual classroom groups.
  • Acknowledges, discusses, rewards, and corrects student behavior; disciplines students as necessary and maintains student safety.
  • Evaluates and records student progress; prepares progress and grade reports as required; administers assessments as necessary.
  • Attends or participates in all required staff meetings, committees, team building, field trips and other activities.
  • May occasionally need to drive students in a district vehicle.
  • Teaches students how to learn and to gather and filter information through personal interaction, print, and web-based sources
  • Curates supplemental educational resources to support students’ growth toward WA state learning standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other school staff to support school initiatives and school improvement activities
  • Utilize technology effectively to meet professional expectations, keep records, and communicate with students, parents, and staff regularly
  • Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
  • Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to keep confidentiality and show initiative when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.
