About The Position

We strive to create an inclusive work environment that fosters respect and dignity for all. This position is for a Mathematics Teacher for Grades 9-12 at Attleboro Community Academy. The purpose of this position is to develop students' skills in mathematics within an alternative high school setting for at-risk students. The role involves teaching, developing curriculum, promoting a safe and conducive classroom environment, and coordinating with other staff members.

Requirements

• Massachusetts State Certification as a mathematics Education Teacher 9 - 12
• Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
• Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Nice To Haves

• SEI Endorsement preferred
• Masters Degree in related area preferred.
• Prior experience with at-risk students a plus.
• Knowledge of alternative teaching methods and classroom management.
• Ability to de-escalate student to student conflict and student to teacher conflict.
• Knowledge of current teaching methods (including social emotional learning) and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer math education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Apply an integrated approach to the teaching of math.
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that are engaging, relevant, and hands-on.
• Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Employ a range of assessment methods of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
