About The Position

The Cap Line Single Flue Fabricator safely performs metal fabrication for a variety of Olympia’s single flue chimney cap products. The position involves operating and setting up fabrication machinery, working at different production workstations as needed, and maintaining accuracy, safety, quality, and an acceptable pace while working on a team production line. The role also includes packaging products, performing prescribed maintenance, and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions.

Requirements

High school education or GED equivalent.
Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, read a tape measure, and convert fractions to decimals.
Ability to problem-solve, manage time, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Extreme attention to detail and safety.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

Basic geometry skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Spot weld, bend, and form metals.
Operate shears, brakes, shaping machines, and other production machinery.
Box and package items.
Perform prescribed maintenance as required.
Check dimensions for accuracy.
Maintain an acceptable pace while working with a team on a production line.
Detect and report defective materials and questionable conditions.
Work at different workstations as production needs require.
Measure accurately using a tape measure.
Gain knowledge of cap styles, sizes, and part numbers.
Develop basic knowledge of different metals, including gauge and welding properties.
Set up machine operations, including the screen bender, screen expander, and press.
Perform other duties as assigned.
