About The Position

The Children’s Services Specialist at Child Start is tasked with supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of educational services across designated classrooms and centers, including Early Head Start. This position requires close collaboration with teaching staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, developmentally appropriate practices that adhere to Head Start Performance Standards. Through conducting observations, providing monitoring and constructive feedback, offering training, and delivering direct support, the Children’s Services Specialist contributes to enhancing classroom quality, promoting school readiness outcomes, and maintaining accurate documentation and service delivery in alignment with Child Start’s mission and goals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in early childhood education / Head Start / EHS environment.
  • Must attain and maintain CLASS reliability rating at the earliest opportunity.
  • Strong knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, licensing regulations, early childhood best practices.
  • Data-analysis skills; ability to translate data into actionable program improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills; ability to collaborate, model best practices and mentor.
  • Leadership style that supports managers, teachers and center directors.
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • In compliance with KDHE requirements, Child Start will request proof of measles (MMR) vaccination or documented immunity during the employment process.
  • Must be able to commute daily to Wichita, KS.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of curriculum and classroom practices to ensure alignment with Head Start Performance Standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Conduct regular and unannounced classroom observations and monitoring.
  • Provide feedback, guidance, and technical assistance to teaching staff to strengthen instructional practices and classroom management.
  • Support communication and collaboration between staff, families, and community partners.
  • Assist in assessing training needs and support delivery of training for staff and families.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of division work plans and program goals.
  • Identify and request materials, supplies, and resources needed to support classroom quality.
  • Assist with development of schedules and systems that support effective service delivery.
