About The Position

Our Children’s Services Department is seeking motivated, compassionate, and dedicated interns for the Fall/Winter term who are pursuing careers in education and therapeutic services. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting children with diverse developmental, educational, and therapeutic needs while working alongside licensed and certified professionals. Interns gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a dynamic children’s services environment while learning directly from dedicated, experienced professionals through ongoing supervision and mentorship. The internship provides valuable exposure to evidence-based educational and therapeutic practices and offers a pathway to fulfill academic internship or fieldwork requirements while building professional skills and confidence for future careers.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program
  • Enrolled in a Special Education Pre-K–4 program
  • Enrolled in an accredited OT or PT program, recognized by: Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
  • Enrolled in a Speech-Language Pathology program
  • Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism
  • Commitment to supporting children and families

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom instruction for young children
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and engaging learning activities
  • Promote children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth
  • Observe and support individualized learning plans
  • Assist special education teachers in inclusive and specialized classrooms
  • Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Help implement instructional and behavioral strategies
  • Observe assessments and progress monitoring
  • Assist licensed therapists during therapy sessions
  • Support therapeutic activities and exercises
  • Help document progress and prepare therapy materials
  • Observe evaluations and treatment planning
  • Support speech and language therapy sessions
  • Assist with data collection and documentation
  • Prepare therapy materials and activities
  • Observe assessments and intervention strategies
