About The Position

The Children’s Ministry Director plays a vital leadership role at Church on the Rock, overseeing all aspects of the COTR Kids Ministry at their campus. This position is a part-time position at Church on The Rock. This position reports directly to the Campus Pastor and works closely with volunteer leaders, families, and staff to create a Christ-centered environment where children can grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years leadership experience in a church environment.
  • Current screening form & background check on file.
  • Teachable, dependable, and supportive of church leadership.
  • Clearly called to serve and minister to children and families.
  • Delegation & administrative gifting.
  • Visionary & entrepreneurial gifting & ability to execute vision.
  • Excellent communication skills. (Both verbal & written)
  • Creative problem-solving skills. (“Solution-based thinking”)
  • Ability to consistently recruit, train, supervise, inspire, & care for Serve Team members.
  • Proficient in tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and CCB (or willing to learn).

  • Born-again, baptized, full of the Holy Spirit, & living under the lordship of Jesus.

Responsibilities

  • Be present and available on Sunday mornings; arrive at least one hour before the first service.
  • Oversee the full setup and teardown of Children’s Ministry spaces each Sunday, ensuring signage, check-in areas, classroom supplies, safety materials, and all ministry resources are prepared, organized, and ready to create a safe, engaging environment, and properly packed and stored for the following week.
  • Ensure all children’s ministry spaces are ready and functioning smoothly.
  • Greet and support serve team members, families, and children.
  • Be ready to step into any COTR Kids role as needed.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteers and team leaders.
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to serve team members and families.
  • Lead or participate in regular team meetings (frequency based on campus needs).
  • Maintain volunteer onboarding, paperwork, and scheduling.
  • Help manage the children’s ministry budget and resource needs.
  • Plan and coordinate appreciation gifts or small-scale events for serve team members.
  • Keep ministry calendars and documents organized and confidential.
  • Coordinate with other ministries and leaders for shared events or space.
  • Attend campus staff meetings as requested by the Campus Pastor.
  • Communicate regularly with the Campus Pastor for alignment, accountability, and support.
  • Represent and champion the vision of COTR Kids.
  • Demonstrate a heart for children and families, leading with humility and joy.
  • Be dependable, organized, and able to manage both people and logistics effectively.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all ministry matters.
  • Model a growing relationship with Jesus and live with spiritual integrity.
  • Remain open about personal areas of spiritual growth and pursue accountability.
  • Take initiative in personal spiritual development and ongoing ministry training.
