About The Position

The Children’s Minister provides vision, leadership, and oversight for the Pre-K ministry environment. This role is responsible for creating safe, engaging, and spiritually formative experiences where children can know Jesus, grow in their faith, and build meaningful relationships. The Children’s Minister leads teams of volunteers, equips families, and ensures alignment with the overall mission and values of the church.

  • Proven ability to lead teams and develop volunteers
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Regular involvement in The Avenue Church activities and events
  • Signed acknowledgement of The Avenue Church’s “Statement of Faith” and “Staff Lifestyle Agreement” forms
  • Signed acknowledgment of policies and procedures as stated in The Avenue Church’s employee handbook
  • Living out the spiritual principles outlined in the “Staff Lifestyle Agreement”; participation in a small group; tithing consistently; attending worship services; involvement in outreach; following Christ personally and passionately; and sexual purity
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Kids Ministry or related leadership role preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or related field (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, direction, and leadership for ministry environments and programming
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and develop volunteer leaders and ministry teams
  • Oversee the planning and execution of weekend services, midweek programs, and special events
  • Ensure all environments are safe, secure, clean, and engaging for children and families
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum aligned with church theology and strategy
  • Partner with parents by providing resources, communication, and support for spiritual development at home
  • Lead, coach, and care for Kids Ministry leaders through regular meetings and development
  • Manage ministry budgets, supplies, and resources with stewardship and accountability
  • Collaborate with other ministry departments to ensure alignment and church-wide integration
  • Track attendance, engagement, and key metrics to evaluate and improve ministry effectiveness
