About The Position

Campus Ministers at Boston College promote the University’s Jesuit, Catholic mission by working collaboratively to offer opportunities for worship, retreats, service-immersion, and fellowship. This requires the ability to provide both pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students, faculty, and staff in the University community. Additionally, this position provides leadership for the liturgical and sacramental life of the University by planning, coordinating, and evaluating liturgies that foster the spiritual growth of the Boston College community and reflect the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the University. Rooted in Ignatian spirituality and attentive to the pastoral realities of university life, this position oversees the preparation and execution of regular and major university liturgies, collaborates closely with students, resident ministers, and campus ministers, and works in partnership with the Campus Minister for Music to cultivate prayerful, engaging, and excellent worship experiences. Central to this role is the formation and accompaniment of students through the University’s Liturgical Council, a student leadership community that helps shape the prayer and sacramental life of campus through liturgies, reconciliation services, adoration, vigils, and other communal prayer opportunities.

Requirements

  • Catholic, with an affinity for and understanding of Ignatian spirituality and Catholic social teaching.
  • At least one year of post-graduate experience in university / high school campus ministry, or equivalent work experiences.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, as well as strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the liturgical and sacramental life of the University by planning, coordinating, and evaluating liturgies.
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of regular and major university liturgies.
  • Collaborate closely with students, resident ministers, and campus ministers.
  • Work in partnership with the Campus Minister for Music to cultivate prayerful, engaging, and excellent worship experiences.
  • Form and accompany students through the University’s Liturgical Council.
