About The Position

The Allen County Public Library is seeking a Part-Time Children's Librarian to join their team at the Main Library downtown. This role focuses on connecting children with stories, creativity, and learning through engaging programs, storytimes, and assistance with library materials and services. The librarian will also support outreach efforts, guide patrons in using technology and online resources, and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment. The position is part of a collaborative team that values literacy, learning, and community connection.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least two (2) years of library operations experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience)
• Ability to obtain Indiana Public Librarian Certification LC5 within three (3) years of hire
• Valid driver's license (for outreach activities)
• Strong communication skills
• Genuine enjoyment of working with children and families
• Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new tools

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging programs and storytimes for children.
• Assist children and caregivers with library materials and services.
• Support outreach efforts and tours.
• Help patrons navigate technology, online resources, and library tools.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive space where curiosity is encouraged.
