About The Position

The Childcare Worker will be responsible for the childcare needs of the program. This role involves implementing child development services, tending to children's immediate needs, ensuring their safety and well-being, and maintaining adherence to agency and county standards. The position also includes facilitating therapeutic daycare curriculum, supervising visits, acting as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, maintaining medical records, monitoring medical requirements, conferring with family members and staff, documenting child behavior, and assisting with data collection and reporting. The role requires embracing and embodying the mission, vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare's vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Fresno County Credentialing.
  • As mandated by the State of California, employees must be fully vaccinated and have received a booster (or have an approved Medical or Religious Exemption requiring weekly testing).
  • CPR Certification.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Annual Tuberculosis test.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of substance abuse and treatment is desired.
  • One (1) year experience teaching, experienced in providing developmental intervention to children or teaching in a licensed childcare center is preferred.
  • Two years supervisory and administrative experience is preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college with applicable experience in early childhood education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement child development services, including individualized educational and developmental plans, curricula, daily schedules, and lesson plans.
  • Provide classroom instruction and medical/diagnostic services.
  • Tend to children's immediate needs in a daycare setting, such as feeding and changing.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children in the daycare.
  • Assure center and records adhere to all agency and county standards, health department standards, and funding requirements.
  • Facilitate therapeutic daycare curriculum involving child and parent.
  • Supervise all CPS visits.
  • Act as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, providing information regarding parent/child interactions and making recommendations/referrals as requested by the Program Coordinator.
  • Assure all medical and health records are maintained in each child's record.
  • Monitor medical requirements and confer with County Public Health Nurse as needed.
  • Confer with family members, significant others, staff, and the Program Coordinator regarding the child's special needs.
  • Document child's behavior and concerns in progress notes.
  • Assist and monitor data collection and statistical reporting.
  • Complete Quality Improvement reports as requested.
  • Participate in case staffing when necessary.
