Supports and assists the Childcare Director in development, organization and implementation of high-quality youth programming for the Before and After School Care and Youth and Family Departments, including but not limited to Summer Day Camp and Before and After School Care, for the Valley View School District. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Two to three years childcare experience preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Child Abuse Prevention, CPR-First Aid and AED, Blood Borne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Lockdown Procedures, Slip, Trip and Fall Prevention and New Staff Orientation certifications required within 30 days of employment.
  • Working knowledge of excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, directs and coordinates childcare programs. Programs include, but are not limited to, summer day camp (offsite), before and after school care and other programs as assigned.
  • Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.
  • Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists the Childcare Director with the before and after school program and the 21st Century Learning grant. Areas include, but are not limited to, monthly curriculum that incorporates CLDI and HEPA standards, supply inventory, recruiting, scheduling, hiring and training staff, and conducting site audits.
  • Trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel (part-time and seasonal) and volunteers as needed.
  • Works with Childcare Director to assess staff performance.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve department goals.
  • Assists Childcare Director in developing and managing the budgets related to primary responsibility areas.
  • Ensures programs operate within budget and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Direct all aspects of childcare billing, auditing accounts regularly to optimize fee collection processes and maintain full financial compliance for the programs.
  • Assures compliance with the state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Assists Childcare Director in compiling statistics.
  • Monitors, evaluates and audits effectiveness and participation in the program.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth and family program information, including timely and accurate submissions to the marketing team.
  • May organize and schedule program registrations, distribute fliers and/or attend community expos.
  • Communicates well with others. Ability to interact with the children attending the programs, their parents and/or guardians, along with the staff team responsible for the children in their programs.
  • Maintains open communication with the Childcare Director.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Serves as Leader on Duty (LOD) as assigned.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Perform duties as required by the absence of staff, including providing coverage to other Valley View school locations, as needed.
  • Accepts other duties as deemed appropriate within the scope of this job description.
  • Highly flexible schedule with varying hours including working evenings and weekends.
