About The Position

Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and stimulating classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of young children, with an emphasis on language development and emergent literacy skills. Providing morning, lunch, and afternoon breaks. Ensuring staff receives their cleaning days and planning periods when possible. Stepping into classrooms when need to meet ratios.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School or GED.
  • Minimum: Six (6) months’ work experience in a childcare setting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, & Internet Explorer, etc.
  • How to operate a printer, load paper into the printer and make copies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with parents and legal guardians, supervisory personnel, co-workers, and outside agencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain nurturing relationships with students, parents, and legal guardians.
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations.
  • Ability to learn and follow Oklahoma Child Care Licensing Standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge/understanding of Early Childhood Development.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Child Development Associate (CDA)
  • Preferred: One (1) year work experience as Lead Teacher in an Early Childhood classroom setting.

Responsibilities

  • Works cooperatively with learning center staff to create a nurturing environment that fosters early childhood development.
  • Establishes and maintains good relationships and open lines of communication with parents, legal guardians, Learning Center staff, the Learning Center Assistant Manager, Learning Center Manager, and the Education Division Director.
  • Reports all classroom issues and/or problems to the Learning Center Manager, Learning Center Assistant Manager and/or the Education Division Director.
  • Maintains normal classroom operations such as circle time when covering classrooms.
  • Identifies each individual child’s needs and capabilities.
  • Assist with maintaining hallway bulletin boards and keeping the Learning Center’s resource area organized.
  • Maintain constant supervision of children, to ensure the welfare, health, and safety of children within the assigned classroom.
  • Responsible for recording daily classroom attendance and preparing classroom-related reports when covering a class.
  • Organizes and cleans classroom activity areas, materials, and supplies when covering a classroom; Advise the Learning Center Manager, Learning Center Assistant Manager and/or the Education Division Director when repairs and/or replacements are needed.
  • Comprehends and adheres to the State of Oklahoma’s Child Care Licensing Standards.
  • Completes in-service training and annual training requirements.
  • Assistances in training substitute teachers, teachers, assistants, and other Learning Center support staff.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned and within the scope of the position.
  • Responsible for maintaining all usernames and passwords for training sites and the Oklahoma registry.
