About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Childcare Assistant Teacher for the Growing Up At Obici childcare center. The Assistant Teacher uses knowledge of early childhood developmental methods to assist the teacher in caring for and educating children, developing lesson plans in accordance with the curriculum, and supporting the daily program and operational activities of the classroom. The role offers an opportunity to contribute creatively to children’s early years in a professional environment that supports families and the workplace.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of childcare experience.
Driver’s license certification.
Food Handlers Card; food service certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) RQI within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

College-level coursework in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or psychology.
Completion of a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA).

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher with the care and learning of children.
Develop lesson plans while following the curriculum.
Assist with day-to-day operational activities of the classroom.
Support the daily program for the class.
