About The Position

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Child & Youth Care Worker will ensure that the developmental, treatment, and psycho-social needs of children, youth, and families are met through active involvement in assessment and therapeutic interventions. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide a combination of individual service delivery, case management, and group programming support to children, youth, and families, in alignment with the philosophy, values, and goals of Dilico Anishinabek Family Care. This work supports the overall social, emotional, and physical well-being of clients within a culturally responsive and supportive environment. The Child & Youth Care Worker is responsible for coordinating the delivery of integrated services from initial assessment through to discharge, ensuring comprehensive and consistent care for all assigned clients receiving services from the agency.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Child & Youth Care (CYC) or a related field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and strength-based approaches
  • Strong counselling, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, as required
  • Travel within the service area to provide community-based support and attend meetings as required
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License and reliable access to a vehicle
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing counselling and therapeutic support to children and youth is an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, and families is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapeutic support to children and youth using developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed approaches
  • Deliver direct, relationship-based support in home, school, and community settings
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized behaviour support and skill-building programs
  • Coordinate case management and contribute to integrated service planning
  • Engage and support families through counselling, education, advocacy, and system navigation
  • Complete assessments, care plans, clinical documentation, and discharge summaries in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborate with schools, community agencies, and Ministry-aligned services to ensure coordinated care
  • Apply culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strength-based practices in all aspects of service delivery
