About The Position

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Family & Children Services, is seeking a Child Welfare Services Technician 1 for its Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia location. Under direct supervision, this position provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to clients and their families, provides information to clients, conducts intakes, and assists staff in delivering social services. The position has a designated special entry salary that is non-negotiable. The role may involve assisting with emergency responsibilities of the department if an emergency is identified. The selected candidate may be subject to pre-employment drug screening, education verification, reference checks, motor vehicle records checks, and criminal background checks.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of job-related experience in a social services-related position.

Prior experience working in a child welfare-related field.

Responsibilities

Assist clients in locating and using community resources, including legal, medical, financial assistance, and other referral services.
Complete client intakes based on interviews with clients, their families, significant others, and appropriate community agencies.
Maintain contact with social service agencies and healthcare providers involved with clients to provide information and obtain feedback about clients’ overall progress.
Organize the delivery of specific social services within the community.
Prepare intake reports and history records.
