Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work 3 days in the office (at the Richard T. Castro Building at 1200 Federal) and two days working from home. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. What You’ll Do At Denver Human Services (DHS), we envision a healthy community where people are connected, supported, safe, and well. Denver Human Services is currently seeking highly skilled applicants for one open Human Services Operations Supervisor position in the Economic Security Division (ESD). This position will oversee operations and support staff carrying enforcement caseloads. The Child Support Services (CSS) program partners with federal, state, tribal, and local governments and others to promote parental responsibility so that children receive support from both parents, even when they live in separate households. Nationally, the child support program is one of the largest income-support programs for families, contributing money to family budgets to help pay for the basics: shelter, food, child care, transportation, and school clothes. Child support makes a big difference to children. We strive to provide family centered services and are incorporating innovative strategies that improve the reliability of child support payments. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Five (5) years of experience performing technical, paraprofessional, and/ or administrative work (this does not include office support work)
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
  • By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

Responsibilities

  • Performs supervisory duties over administrative, paraprofessional, and/or technical staff, implements and monitors performance criteria to achieve the unit’s goals and objectives, and keeps supervisory/management level personnel abreast of trends and issues in the work area
  • Supports professional and/or higher-level managers by performing a variety of operational functions including operational and financial analysis, reporting and evaluation, information management, computer operations, expenditure control, budget development, accounting, purchasing and procurement, and process improvement
  • Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of staff members, provides technical expertise to staff, establishes and/or monitors current methods and policies, and recommends changes in practices and procedures to increase operating efficiency and expedite work flow
  • Trains new staff members on applicable standards, regulations, and requirements for the assigned work area(s), orients staff with appropriate policies and procedures, and ensures that work conforms to policies, standards, and regulations
  • Develops or modifies work plans, methods, and procedures and determines work priorities. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness, and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion
  • Resolves problems encountered during daily operations and determines standards for problem resolution including escalations from clients
  • Develops the performance enhancement plan, documents performance, provides performance feedback, and formally evaluates the work of employee. Responds to formal and informal employee grievances and prepares written response
  • Documents causes for disciplinary action and initiates letters of reprimand and formal recommendations for disciplinary action. Provides work instruction and assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments
  • By position, assists in the development and processing of contracts including participating in drafting RFP for contracts, evaluating proposals, and administering contracts for compliance and expenditures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Any one position may not include all of the duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed above
