About The Position

The purpose of the Child Support Case Manager is to manage child support cases in an assigned caseload. This role involves managing child support cases, including enforcement actions, updating the Support Enforcement Tracking System (SETS), conducting investigations, and preparing legal documents. The position requires knowledge of relevant laws and procedures, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manages child support cases in an assigned caseload, including enforcement actions such as income withholding notices, employment verifications, emancipation notices, and default notices.
  • Updates SETS-Support Enforcement Tracking System with current information from clients, employers, courts, and other sources regarding emancipation, employment, or address.
  • Conducts locate activities such as postal verifications and monitoring SETS locate activities.
  • Updates SETS running record with all actions taken on any case.
  • Assists with the administrative determination of paternity and support; prepares and files motions and entries; issues service of process in accordance with Rules of Civil Procedure; schedules hearings within defined time frames; prepares certified mailings; completes necessary SETS screens and maintains the case file.
  • Schedules and coordinates genetic testing schedule, arranges testing locations, testing in jails, prisons, and out of state. Explains procedures, obtains waivers and forms, and submits to Central Paternity Registry.
  • Prepares, sends, and monitors all forms for interstate cases, initiating and responding from Ohio in assigned caseload. Monitors through calls and correspondence to confirm the status of cases in other jurisdictions. Records in SETS as information is received.
  • Conducts investigations and reviews requests for termination of child support orders in accordance with established law, regulation, and policy. Terminates orders as appropriate.
  • Reviews and refers cases to legal for civil court action or referral for felony indictment. Prepares case summaries and other related documents and correspondence for state hearings. Participates in administrative and court reviews as needed.
  • Regularly reviews and develops a comprehensive knowledge of the federal, state, and local laws and procedures for the child support program. Attends staff meetings, workshops, conferences, and training sessions including SETS training as needed.
