About The Position

Boston Ballet is seeking individuals to work on a temporary, hourly basis as a Child Supervisor for its seasonal production of The Nutcracker. This role involves overseeing child performers during rehearsals, costume fittings, and performances. The position is temporary and seasonal, requiring daytime and evening hours, including weekday matinees, from November 22 through December 31. Supervisors will be needed at the Boston Ballet studio in October and November for costume fittings and distributions, and to assist with rehearsals. From November 22 through December 31, supervisors will be needed at the Citizens Opera House to oversee child performers during rehearsals and performances, escorting them backstage and ensuring timely and safe transitions to wardrobe and the stage.

Requirements

• Experience working with children is required.
• Candidates will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of music, dance, and performing arts productions is a plus.
• Stage Management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring children during rehearsals, costume fittings, and performances.
• Escorting children backstage at the Opera House.
• Familiarity with the production to get children to wardrobe and onstage at appropriate times.
• Ensuring safe and efficient entrances and exits from the stage area.
