About The Position

Guardian Angel Settlement Association (GASA) is seeking a Child Development and Education Coordinator to provide leadership for its Head Start and Early Childhood Education programs. This role involves overseeing child development services, curriculum implementation, disability services, enrollment (ERSEA), and classroom quality, while ensuring adherence to Head Start Performance Standards and state licensing requirements. The Coordinator will collaborate with teachers, families, and community agencies to foster inclusive, high-quality learning environments that promote child success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working in Head Start, Early Head Start, or early childhood education programs.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience with developmental screenings and early intervention services.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Experience using ChildPlus.
  • Knowledge of Conscious Discipline.
  • Experience with ERSEA processes and Head Start reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of child development services across the program.
  • Support teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate practices and Conscious Discipline strategies.
  • Review lesson plans and curriculum implementation with instructional staff.
  • Monitor classroom assessment data and develop improvement strategies.
  • Track child outcomes and individualized goals through IEPs, IFSPs, and Positive Guidance Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards related to education, child development, and mental health.
  • Support school readiness initiatives and continuous quality improvement.
  • Coordinate developmental screenings, referrals, evaluations, and follow-up services.
  • Facilitate IEP and IFSP meetings with families, school districts, and community providers.
  • Support inclusive classroom practices and accommodations for children with disabilities.
  • Conduct monitoring activities including classroom observations, file reviews, and compliance audits.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in ChildPlus and other required systems.
  • Prepare required disability reports, PIR data, and documentation.
  • Lead recruitment, eligibility, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA) activities.
  • Monitor enrollment targets and maintain full enrollment.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with Head Start regulations.
  • Collaborate with Family Advocates and community partners on recruitment initiatives.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families using a strengths-based, culturally responsive approach.
  • Collaborate with Family Advocates to connect families with needed resources.
  • Promote family engagement activities and parent participation.
  • Support children's social-emotional development through collaboration with staff and families.
  • Supervise Teachers, Family Advocates, and the Instructional Support Specialist.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Conduct classroom observations and performance feedback.
  • Participate in program planning and continuous quality improvement efforts.
