About The Position

Under the direction of the Child Care Director, the Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the daily activities in the Child Care programs for the Kettle Moraine YMCA. This role requires adherence to DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers and Kettle Moraine YMCA Child Care Policies. The teacher will develop age-appropriate lesson plans, mentor assistants and volunteers, and maintain a safe and orderly environment. Key responsibilities include interacting with children, assisting with meal preparation, communicating effectively with parents and co-workers, and building positive relationships within the community. The role also emphasizes adherence to the Code of Conduct and Child Abuse Prevention handbook.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Educational qualifications in compliance with DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
  • Current CPR/AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must complete and pass fingerprint check.
  • Must complete a Health Physical and TB test within 30 days of hire.
  • The ability to appropriately interact with children at their cognitive level.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience in Child Care preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows the DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers and the Kettle Moraine YMCA Child Care Policies.
  • Implements age appropriate curriculum by developing lesson plans that contribute to the growth and self esteem of the children.
  • Mentors assistants and volunteers.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly environment, which includes housekeeping duties.
  • Interacts with children at their level and provides supervision for a safe environment.
  • Assists in meal/snack preparation.
  • Reports any problems/concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Greets and communicates with parents, keeps all interactions positive and is sensitive to the feelings of children and parents.
  • Communicates appropriately with co-workers.
  • Builds and maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, volunteers, other staff, and the communities we serve.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies within the Child Abuse Prevention handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
