Requirements

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator Diploma
  • Registered (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of supervisory experience in a licensed child care setting.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated expertise in the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014), the Early Learning for Every Child Today document, How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and The Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
  • Experience leading diverse teams in creating environments that nurture positive, responsive relationships with children, parents/caregivers and community partners.
  • Relationship building, communication, coaching and mentoring, problem solving and critical reflection are key competencies.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification prior to the first day of work
  • Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health
  • Flexibility and adaptability regarding assigned working hours
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age or older as per Ministry guidelines
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

  • The employee must be able to arrange their own transportation to these sites. A valid G driver’s license and full time vehicle access are strongly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in providing welcoming and inclusive environments where children and families have access to high quality licensed child care that influences positive child and family outcomes.
  • Provide effective supervision, support, development and coaching opportunities which will increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of your team.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including meeting legislative compliances, financial accountabilities, employee, student and volunteer records and centre enrolment which will ensure the efficient and effective day to day operation of the centre.
  • Develop strong relationships with children, families, educators, volunteers, and community partners through meaningful connections and communication.
  • Foster a positive team environment by organizing and participating in ongoing professional learning, reflection and goal setting with your team.
  • Support all ages and stages of development by ensuring the delivery of high quality licensed child care experiences that encourage children’s exploration, play and inquiry, supported by Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years, How Does learning Happen? and YMCA Curriculum.
