About The Position

UCP Seguin is seeking a caring and dependable Child Care Specialist to support children with developmental disabilities and/or complex medical needs in our foster care program. In this critical direct support role, you will help children build daily living, interpersonal, and community skills based on their individualized Service Plans. Your work will promote independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in home and community life. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide emotional support, hands-on assistance, and consistent guidance. Responsibilities include implementing goal-based programming, documenting progress, supporting foster families, transporting children to appointments, and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings. You will also help maintain safety by providing appropriate physical assistance, monitoring behavior, and ensuring children are never left unsupervised. Your compassion, attentiveness, and ability to remain steady during behavioral or medical challenges will directly shape the positive experiences of the children you serve. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid Illinois driver's license and insurance
  • Ability to obtain training in medication administration, defensive driving, First Aid, and CPR
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to provide physical assistance and respond to behavioral needs

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or medical complexities
