Requirements

  • Possess a diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child and Youth Care/Worker or Recreation and Leisure Services or Social Services or equivalent related experience
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • A commitment to creating inclusive environments that celebrate diversity
  • A professional, reliable, and confidential approach to their work
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C (Infant/Child)
  • A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months
  • Work Authorization: The YMCA of Oakville is required to comply with all regulations established by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Applicants working under an IRCC-issued work permit must provide valid documentation confirming work authorization before their start date.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging before and after school programs for children aged 3.8–12 years
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported
  • Implement the YMCA curriculum while adapting activities to meet children's individual interests and developmental needs
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, volunteers, and placement students
  • Supervise children while maintaining attendance, health, and safety standards
  • Support snack and meal service while maintaining cleanliness and organization
  • Follow YMCA policies, Ministry of Education requirements, and Child Care & Early Years Act regulations
