Child Care Center Cook
About The Position
The Child Care Cook, also called the Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and applicable state and federal requirements; prepares meals and snacks for children and staff; and distributes food to classrooms. The position follows the daily menu provided by the Director, maintains food and supply inventory, and orders supplies as needed. The cook may also assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility regarding hours and work schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.
Responsibilities

- Follow the daily menu provided by the Director and comply with applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
- Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
- Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher or Floater.
