About The Position

The Child Care Center Cook, also referred to as a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The Cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements; prepares meals and snacks for children and staff; and distributes food to classrooms. The role follows the daily menu provided by the Director, including applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations. The Cook maintains an inventory of food and supplies and orders additional items when needed. The position may also assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater. The work week is Monday through Friday, with flexibility required regarding work hours and schedule.

Requirements

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.
• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.

Responsibilities
