About The Position
The Child Care Center Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook prepares home-style, nutritious meals within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements. The cook follows the daily menu provided by the Director, which incorporates USDA, licensing, and health department regulations; maintains food and supply inventory and orders more as needed; distributes food to classrooms; and assists in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher/Floater when needed.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility with work hours and schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Create home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
- Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff and distribute food to classrooms.
