About The Position
The Child Care Cook, also referred to as a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the children enrolled at the school. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook plans and prepares home-style, nutritious meals within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements. They prepare meals and snacks for children and staff, distribute food to classrooms, follow the Director’s daily menu and applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations, maintain food and supply inventory, and place orders when needed. The role may also assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.
