About The Position
The Child Care Center Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements; prepares meals and snacks for children and staff; and distributes food to classrooms. The cook follows the daily menu provided by the Director, including applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations, and maintains food and supply inventory, ordering more when needed. The role may also assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.
