About The Position

Supports the Director to ensure the best possible learning experience for school-age children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality. Duties may include crafts, games, stories, lunchtime, etc. Assist in planning and organizing daily events. Monitor children on the playground. Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.

Requirements

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required.
• Good communication skills, required.
• Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students, required.
• Ability to relate to children with special needs, required.
• Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of files, materials, computer and audio visual equipment, etc.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including but not limited to understanding and following safety instructions, responding appropriately to emergency situations, completing documentation, and interacting with English-speaking staff, students, community and supervisors.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children’s groups and/or training in early childhood development or childcare, preferred.
• May be required to attend CPR/First Aid training.
